Hi Kids! Today (2021 May 18) is International Museum Day!
Yes, May 18 is observed as International Museum Day every year. Created by The International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 1977, this special day is an occasion to promote the role of museums around the world.
International Museum Day aims at raising public awareness on the role museums play in the development of society today, on an international level.
Each year ICOM chooses a theme for this special day and in 2021, the theme is ‘The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine’. This year the focus is on the COVID-19 pandemic on a global level and its impact on the cultural scene and on the operational future of museums.
